Cable & Wireless and Inuk Networks have entered into a wholesale deal worth around £70 million over five years.

Under the terms of the contract Cable & Wireless will provide Inuk’s Freewire subsidiary with access to it UK-wide multicast network, enabling the delivery of ‘triple-play services’ – IP television, VoIP and broadband.

Inuk provides triple-play services to UK students in collaboration with JANET, the academic network. Over forty universities representing over 100,000 student have signed up to the Freewire service so far.

The new deal with Cable & Wireless will allow Freewire to extend its services into homes across the UK from March 2016. It will cover 63% of the UK population.

Cable & Wireless will also offer Inuk’s IPTV platform to other wholesale DSL customers who want to provide their customers with digital television services.
Cable & Wireless will customise the solution to suit the needs of its wholesale customers.
